Nokia 5800 XpressMusic
The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic is one of the mobile phones that will give more war this Christmas, being the first of the Nokia models equipped with the new version of the Symbian S60 operating system, which brings the touch screen support as a main novelty.
And it is that Nokia has taken a long time to get into this field, but it has done it in a way that ensures success with its new terminal. Although we are not talking about a higher-end terminal, it incorporates enough features so that everyone can find what they are looking for.
Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, youth phones with multimedia capabilities
Now, it is a terminal obviously focused on a young audience, who want a mobile phone not only to call, but also to listen to music, watch videos and be connected with their friends, either by SMS, by email, Facebook, ... For all this the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic incorporates some solution.
The touch screen is a standard size against its competition. At 3.2 inches it is neither the largest nor the smallest, being in the middle. It stands out for it, therefore, the resolution of 640 × 360 pixels that it offers, superior to the rest of Nokia models and that will be appreciated especially when it comes to watching videos and photos.
This touch screen allows you to control all the functions of the phone and, to facilitate it, it incorporates technology haptic, that is, with vibration response when pressing on it. The screen is complemented by three keys at the bottom to control some functions of the phone and another at the top that activates the Media Bar, which we will talk about later.
Nokia 5800 XpressMusic with photo camera
The camera of the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic is 3.2 megapixels and incorporates a Carl Zeiss lens and a dual flash LED. It allows taking photos at a resolution of 2048 × 1536 and video recording at 640 × 360 pixels, at a maximum of 30 frames per second.
All of this can be saved in its internal memory or on MicroSD cards. While the first is only 81 MB, the phone comes with an 8 GB MicroSD card, which we can replace with one of up to 16 GB. In it we will also keep all our music, one of the points that has been most taken care of on this phone.
For this reason, it incorporates a complete player, in addition to a 3.5 mm headphone output and stereo speakers with surround sound. We can also use headphones without cables thanks to the support of Bluetooth 2.0 and the A2DP profiles and AVRCP. For when we are watching video, the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic comes with a television output and the corresponding cable to connect it to it.
Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, with Gps and WiFi connectivity
But the multimedia section is not the only one that has been worked on on this phone. Internet connection is also very important, for which it incorporates HSDPA and Wi-Fi connectivity, compatible with 802.11g.
With them, we can use the different applications that come pre-installed, such as the web browser, which offers support for Flash, the mail application or the reader of RSS, which integrates with the contact bar.
Also includes a receiver Gps with support A-GPS, which combined with the software Nokia Maps, which comes pre-installed, will allow us to use it as a browser Gps conventional, which is facilitated by the size of your screen.
Little more to say in the technical specifications section, apart from the fact that the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic has a weight of 109 grams and that its battery offers autonomy of up to 9 hours in conversation, up to 17 days in standby, 35 hours in music playback or up to 5 hours of video playback.
We go to the interface section, where the main novelty is a total remodeling of the home screen, which includes the Media Bar and the contact bar. The Media Bar, which is activated by a button located on the screen, offers us direct access to various multimedia options, such as the music player or the video viewer, from wherever we are.
The contact bar allows us to select four of our favorite contacts to have all their data and activity from that home screen. Thus, we will have direct access to all the activity we have done with them: calls sent and received, SMS, emails, ... in addition to being able to assign different channels RSS to find out about their online activity, in a kind of lifestreaming simplified. With that we could see what they write on their blog, what they upload to Flickr or what they do on Facebook.
Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, availability and price
The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic will go on sale during the last quarter of the year. In Spain, specifically, it will be available on December 1. We can find it free for 279 euros, but surely many of the operators will offer it very soon in their catalog, with the corresponding subsidy, which will put it at a very affordable price.
This price is another of the signs that indicate how the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic is aimed at a young audience and that can make its success this Christmas really high.
