Palm Pixi, new data and video in operation
We were talking about it a few days ago, and now we are back to load with new technical characteristics of the Palm Pixi, which will be the second Palm mobile, after the Palm Pre, to use WebOS, its operating system.
The novelties affect the hardware of the Palm Pixi, some technical characteristics such as the Qualcomm MSM7627 processor, with two cores at 600 and 400 MHz. The first is intended for the execution of applications, while the second will serve for more general tasks, in addition to supporting the first. While the GPU it will have support for OpenGL 2.0 (like the Palm Pre) and will work at a frequency of 200 MHz .; and we will also find another older processor to decode multimedia content.
So although a priori we might think that the Palm Pixi is a low-end mobile, it seems that we were wrong. Everything indicates that it will indeed be somewhat worse than the Palm Pre, but it will not be considered low-end. A mid-high range seems the most successful, leaving the Pre at the head of the new Palm catalog and with the Pixi as a cheaper option, but also aimed at an advanced and demanding audience.
And of course, let us remember that the Palm Pixi will also bring a 2.6-inch capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 320 × 400 pixels, in addition to a 2-megapixel camera (perhaps a bit short for current times) with LED flash; Gps, internal accelerometers and 8 GB memory flash.
Then I leave you with a video made by EverythingPre in which you can see the excellent finish of this new Palm terminal. Now, to wait first for the Pre in Spain, and then for this new Pixie, which together with Android and iPhone seems clear that they are the leading platforms in today's new generation of mobiles.
