Vodafone Expands "Its" 4G Cities and Promises NFC Payment for Fall
Vodafone has been a protagonist today in the Santander Telecommunications Meeting where Xataka Móvil is. The operator, where it seems that all is good news these days, has confirmed that for this same month there will be more cities with 4G coverage on their part.
Santander, La Coruña and Zaragoza will join the initial 7 cities in which Vodafone already had 4G coverage since May, while Cordoba, Vigo, Murcia, Gijón and Oviedo will be added during October, covering up to 58% of their population in outdoors and up to 27% indoors, with improvements by the end of the year to reach 70% outdoors and 40% indoors before the end of the year.
Vodafone SmartPass for payment with Visa and mobile
A very attractive announcement for those who want to forget about paying by card in the traditional way or with cash is the arrival of the Vodafone SmartPass system in collaboration with Visa from autumn, although by the end of the year they plan to open the platform to more cards and entities.
In establishments that have a contactless sales terminal, the Vodafone customer can pay with their phone using NFC technology. In the case of using a terminal without this connectivity, there will be an NFC sticker that enables the terminal to make such contactless payments.
The money will go in a prepaid Visa card and will be managed through an application for smartphones. For 2014, it is planned that loyalty cards and discount coupons can also be managed from Vodafone Wallet.
